The main residency programmes available for non-EU nationals is the MPRP programme.

Benefits of the
Malta Residency Programme

In addition to being a fairly quick path to residency – just six to eight months for approval – there are many other benefits to this highly sought-after programme:

Residence in an EU country with visa-free access across Europe's Schengen Area.

The right to reside indefinitely in Malta (one of Europe's safest countries).

Investment required for the first five years only (and only after you have secured approval).

Family members can be included.

No residence requirement to maintain your permanent residence status.

English is the official language - and there is no language test.

Once you receive approval, your permanent residency card is issued with a five-year validity (and easily renewed every five years with a new photo).

Eligible Criteria

Must be a third country national and is not an EU, EEA or Swiss national or a national from Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, Democratic republic of Congo, Somalia, South Sudan Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela or Russia.

Not benefit under any other relevant Malta government scheme  

In receipt of stable resources to support themselves and dependants without recourse to the Maltese social system  

In possession of a valid travel document  

Has a capital of €500,000 (Amongst which at least €150,000 are in liquidity, cash on account or financial instruments)  

Pass a strict 4-tier due diligence test.

Costs

To Rent a Property

  1. Pay a government contribution of €98,000 (only €10,000 is non-refundable the remaining is payable after approval)  
  2. Pay €2,000 towards NGOs. 
  3. Rent property for a minimum value of €10,000 (Gozo/South of Malta) or €12,000 (North of Malta) per annual for 5 years. 
  4. Contribution of dependent.
  5. Buy health insurance covering Malta for each applicant

The minimum cost or this choice would be €140,000 depending on the complexity of the application on number of dependents including all legal fees, government application and contributory payments.

(an onboarding fee of between €5,000-€7,000 depending on complexity of the application due diligence needed)  

Purchase Property

  1. Pay a government contribution of €68,000 (Only €10,000 is none refundable the remaining is payable after approval)
  2. Pay €2,000 towards NGOs. 
  3. Buy property for a minimum value of €300,000 (Gozo/South of Malta) or €350,000 (North of Malta) and hold for 5 years.
  4. Contribution of dependent
  5. Buy health insurance covering Malta for each applicant

The minimum cost or this choice would be €120,000 depending on the complexity of the application on number of dependents including all legal fees, government application and contributory payments. However, the Property minimum of €300,000 will remain the property of the applicant.

Note: Each application is unique so exact costing is not possible until full details of the applicant has been received. Payments can be staggered throughout the application process reducing any undue risk to the applicant.

along with a Maltese passport require this.
